3D model Piping spooling process
Model walkthrough of a given pipeline is carried out for clash check and review of weld joints position for clearances with respect to structures/ pipe support etc.
​Spool marking is done directly in the 3D BIM model in accordance with client spooling philosophy checking for welding ease, transportability, erectability and scaffolding etc.System enables easy marking the field joints and automatic numbering of spools and joints as per agreed nomenclature. Unlike the current practice of marking spools ISO sheetwise, spool marking is done for the entire isometric line at once.
Transforming the current practice of marking spool after ISO sheet breakups , in the new process , ISO sheet breakups are created after marking of spools and joints. ISO sheets are created by breaking the line exactly at the field joints. Spool/ISO Sheet wise drawings, Spool/ISO sheet wise BOQ and weld joint master in excel are generated automatically.

Eliminates work flow of conversion into IDF files, transmittal and uploading and checking/ appending in spooling software which requires lot of care to maintain data integrity. The seamless data flow, process simplification and automation can translate into saving of time and cost.

Spool marking for the entire line instead of sheets ensures proper configuration of spools and continuous numbering. ISO sheet creation after spool marking ensures that the field joints of ISO sheet at both ends are properly identified.

Spooling in 3D environment aids in proper selection of field joint and spool sizing contributing to erection productivity and minimising rework. Line wise spool marking and ISO sheet breaking up processes adds to efficiency. Minimise document management of thousands of files.
Revisions are flagged on the spool drawings then and there. Revision changes are carried out with out time lag thereby eliminating consequent rework. As built model drawing preparation with spool breakup and weld joint details is inbuilt.
